1/2 Liter. 11 1/2" tall. Imperial German Eagle Stein. This hand-painted, bone rustical relief stein features the Imperial German Eagle in richly-detailed style on the center front. The Imperial German Eagle originates from an emblem believed to have been used by Charlemagne, the first Frankish ruler crowned Holy Roman Emperor by the Pope in 800 A.D., and was derived from the Eagle Standard of the Roman army. The side panels display architectural highlights of major cities throughout the country including: Frankfurt, Cologne, Berlin, Munich, Rothenburg, and Heidelberg. The lower rim band states Germany's motto "Einigkeit Und Recht Und Freiheit" (Unity and Justice and Freedom). The pewter lid is adorned with decorative relief banding and is topped with a solid pewter Imperial German Eagle.
