1/2 liter 13 inches in height Drinking Horn - Imperial German Eagle. This polished black drinking horn displays the Imperial German Eagle featured at center front, surrounded by the flags of Germany. Decorative white banding adorns the base, upper rim, and handle. Pewter mountings and thumb lift support the domed pewter lid which features intricately-detailed relief banding.
The Imperial German Eagle originates from an emblem believed to have been used by Charlemagne, the first Frankish ruler crowned Holy Roman Emperor by the Pope in 800 A.D., and was derived from the Eagle Standard of the Roman army.
