This cobalt relief stein, with pedestal-style body, features an Imperial German Eagle at the center front in finely detailed design. The Imperial German Eagle originates from an emblem believed to have been used by Charlemagne, the first Frankish ruler crowned Holy Roman Emperor by the Pope in 800 A.D., and was derived from the Eagle Standard of the Roman army. The side panels depict selected architectural highlights of Germany including: Berlin, Kaiserslautern, Heidelberg, the Neuschwanstein Castle, Frankfurt, Cologne, Rothenburg, and Munich. The domed pewter lid is adorned with intricate decorative banding.
